Quote of the day

Good morning!

It's Saturday, and I hope you've managed to find a little time for yourself.

We've got an interesting contradiction in India's job market, a rather questionable food experiment, and an ad that might make you a little emotional.

But first, here's something nice.

A Boy Band Reunion

For months, 22-year-old Indian singer Darshan Magdum had to perform virtually with his American boy band, Boy Throb, while waiting for his US visa.

After a long visa process and a social media campaign, he finally joined his bandmates on stage in New Jersey, where hundreds of fans showed up.

And yes, all four wore matching pink tracksuits.

Honestly, the matching outfits make the reunion even better.

What's Stirring

📈India's businesses are growing. So where are the jobs?

India's economy has an interesting contradiction right now: businesses are getting busier, but hiring isn't keeping up.

According to a new survey released on Friday, India's private-sector business activity grew at its fastest pace in four months. The survey's growth index rose from 55.9 in September to 56.7 in October, helped by stronger demand, particularly in services.

Yet hiring almost came to a standstill. Service companies kept staffing levels unchanged, while manufacturers added only a few workers.

The findings come from a preliminary survey of businesses, so they don't mean hiring has stopped across India. But they do highlight a gap between stronger business activity and new employment opportunities.

Why it matters

A growing economy doesn't automatically mean more jobs.

For people looking for work, the bigger question is whether stronger business demand will eventually translate into more hiring.
