What's Stirring

What changes for your money from July 1?

Your passport costs more. Your lounge access has conditions. Your ITR has a deadline. All from tomorrow.

🪪 Aadhaar
Updating your email address on Aadhaar is free from today until December 31. The usual ₹75 fee is waived - but only through the Aadhaar mobile app.

📄 Passport
A 36-page passport now costs ₹2,500, up from ₹1,500. Tatkaal goes from ₹3,500 to ₹5,000. If you were planning to apply, this week was the time.

HDFC cardholders need to have spent ₹60,000 in the previous quarter to get complimentary airport lounge access. SBI PhonePe card reward point rules have also been revised with more excluded transactions.

🚂 Railways
Fines for rule violations double from ₹250 to ₹500. Travelling in a women's coach without authorisation now attracts a fine of up to ₹2,500.

📊 ITR
The deadline for filing ITR-1 and ITR-2 for FY 2025-26 is July 31. Missing it means penalties, restricted tax regime choices, and losing the ability to carry forward losses.
