These Girls had an Idea. Then they Built it.

In a nationwide AI hackathon, 6,151 girls were given one challenge: use AI to solve a problem that actually matters. They built tools to detect witch-hunt accusations against rural women - using pattern recognition and local language inputs.

What's Stirring

The Supreme Court Told Lawyers: If AI Said It, You Own It.

On July 2, the Supreme Court set aside orders from two tribunals after discovering that three of the six judgments they cited simply did not exist. The other three were real cases stuffed with invented paragraphs. All of it AI-generated.

The SC has now declared zero tolerance for hallucinations in court. Lawyers must disclose when they use AI in filings and cannot blame the tool if something goes wrong.

If your lawyer used ChatGPT to write your case and did not bother to check, you would want to know. Now there is a ruling to back it up.

🌧️ Monsoon Update

Good News. The monsoon has finally picked up - a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring active rainfall across central and western India this week, potentially cutting the June deficit from 40% to 30% by mid-July.

📖 🎬 For the Weekend

Read: Chekhov's The Lottery Ticket - a short story about a couple who spend an evening imagining what they would do with lottery winnings. It takes a turn. Free online, fifteen minutes, stays with you.

Watch: Ariel's #ShareTheLoad - a father's letter of apology to his daughter for what he showed her about household roles.

Both are worth a slow Saturday morning.
