What should you know? Two different markets are running side by side. Mainboard IPOs are for large, established companies with proven track records. SME IPOs are for smaller, earlier-stage businesses.

The SME segment has exploded, but high oversubscription followed by sharp price swings after listing has raised concerns.

What changed? SEBI has tightened rules - improved disclosures, stricter requirements for SME-to-mainboard migration, and clearer KPI reporting. The goal is to protect retail investors who are entering the market in record numbers.
