Quote of the day
"The world is changed by your action, not by your opinion."

Good morning.
India and Canada sat down for their first-ever Finance Ministers' Economic Dialogue this week. After a year of strained ties, the conversation has shifted from tensions to trade. The target? ₹4.65 lakh crore in bilateral trade by 2030.
That, a 17-year-old turning textile waste into paycheques, and a global energy milestone. Here is your Saturday.

17 Years Old. 250 Women Employed. All From Textile Scraps.

Rahini Bansal is a Class 12 student in Noida. In 2024, she launched Sutradhar, an initiative that collects pre-consumer textile waste from factories - offcuts, rejected rolls, deadstock - and channels it to rural women trained in sewing, embroidery, and knitting.
Over 250 women across villages now work from home on paid orders through her platform. Rahini did not drop out of school to do this. She built it around her studies. The raw material is free. The skill training is structured. The income is real.

What happened? Finance Ministers from both countries met in Toronto for the inaugural Canada-India Economic and Financial Dialogue. India has offered to begin negotiations on a Bilateral Investment Treaty and both sides want to conclude a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement by the end of 2026. Read More →
The target: ₹4.65 lakh crore (CAD 70 billion) in bilateral trade by 2030. The dialogue also covered cross-border remittances, merchant payments, and the role of institutional capital in strengthening ties.
Why it matters: A year ago, India-Canada relations were at a low point. This week, their finance ministers were sitting in the same room, signing a joint statement. Trade has a way of rebuilding bridges that politics breaks. The investment treaty, if it lands, would give businesses on both sides the legal stability to commit long-term capital. ⚡ The Clean Energy Scoreboard
Renewables Overtook Coal. For the First Time Ever.

Coal lost its crown. Solar alone covered 83% of the rise in global electricity demand. India installed more new solar capacity than the United States for the first time. And Indian emissions fell by 24 million tonnes as clean energy outpaced demand. The shift is no longer coming. It is here. Read the full report →
