🛒 AC, TV and Washing Machine prices are going up

What happened?
Leading appliance makers are raising prices, with many hikes taking effect from October 1. ACs go up 5-8%, and some brands are adding 3-4% to washing machines, refrigerators and LED TVs.
Timing differs by brand: Daikin raised prices from September 16, Godrej says some brands will move in October and others in November, and Panasonic is still deciding. Read More →
Why now?
Copper, steel, aluminium and crude derivatives have all become costlier, freight is up, and currency swings linked to the West Asia crisis add to the pressure. Haier's India president says copper has gone from $8,000-9,000 a tonne last year to $14,500, and one AC uses 3-4 kg of it. This is the industry's third round of hikes in 2026.

Why it matters:
The festive season brings in 30-40% of appliance makers' yearly sales, so the hike lands exactly when you shop. Blue Star's MD says GST relief of about 10% brings the real increase over last Diwali down to roughly 5%.
